CAC Deadline for POS Operators: A Reminder

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) is reminding all Point of Sale (POS) operators that the 60-day deadline for registering their businesses has expired. As of September 5, 2024, all POS operators must have complied with the Commission’s directive to formalize their operations.

While the CAC notes that many operators have already taken steps to comply, it also highlights the significant number of recalcitrant operators who have failed to do so. These operators may be engaging in unlawful activities or have other reasons for not complying with the directive.

The CAC is working closely with law enforcement agencies and other relevant stakeholders to enforce the directive and impose sanctions on non-compliant operators. These sanctions may include business closures and other severe legal consequences.

It is imperative that all POS operators in Nigeria take immediate action to register their businesses with the CAC. Failure to do so could result in serious legal and financial consequences.
